Women Veterans Funding Opportunity

Please share this initiative that will strengthen the system of care for women veterans.

A SWORDS TO PLOWSHARES FUNDING OPPORTUNITY:
WOMEN VETERANS

Swords to Plowshares recently received funding from The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF) to administer a competitive re-grant program for both veteran service agencies and community organizations that are interested in providing services for women veterans throughout California. Swords to Plowshares is a community-based, not-for-profit veteran service organization that provides wrap-around care to more than 2,000 veterans in the San Francisco Bay Area each year. We are committed to helping veterans break through the cultural, educational, psychological and economic barriers they often face in their transition to the civilian world.

Swords to Plowshares will be awarding $700,000 in grants ranging from $10,000 - $35,000 to a minimum of 20 organizations throughout California to increase culturally-competent gender- and veteran-specific care, coordinate community-based services and promote access to Veterans Administration healthcare and benefits to strengthen the system of care for California women veterans.

The ultimate goal of the project is: to improve health indicators of women veterans in California by strengthening the capacity of the organizations that serve the, and improving the overall system of care throughout the state. To this end, applicants are invited to propose effective and creative strategies to improve the health of the women veterans.

Organizations eligible for application must be registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations operating in California; eligible organizations include but are not limited to military/National Guard/veteran serving organizations, women/family serving organizations, educational institutions, religious institutions, community health clinics, research institutions, etc.

The project is funded by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation (TCWF). Created in 1992 as a private independent foundation, TCWF`s mission is to improve the health of the people of California by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention.
