Are you a veteran or do you know of a veteran that is looking for work in California? If so, please check out this unique opportunity with the California Conservation Corps. CCC is inviting veterans to apply for current positions in its joint training partnership with the U.S. Forest Service.

This is a full time opportunity that offers a living stipend, basic health insurance, job skills and could lead to enrollment in the USFS Wildland Firefighter Apprenticeship Program. CALIFORNIA CONSERVATION CORPS
U.S. FOREST SERVICE

Are you a veteran 18-28 years of age?

Are You Interested in Work Experience and Wildland Fire Training?

The Position:

The CCC is inviting veterans to apply for an exciting opportunity that combines hands-on work experience and skills training in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS).

Successful candidates will be enrolled in the CCC Veterans Program full-time and receive USFS training in wildland firefighting, chainsaw, tool use, safety, and crew organization. Veterans will work on fuel reduction, forestry and wildfire education projects.

Participants who complete this program may be eligible for the USFS Wildland Firefighter Apprenticeship Program. Successful participation may lead to full-time positions with the USFS.

Qualifications:

Honorable Discharge, or General Discharge under Honorable Conditions (Provide DD214)
18-28 years of age
Not on formal probation or parole
No conviction for violent offenses or drug crimes
Able to pass background check, drug test, physical exam and training
Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
Willing to respond to emergencies
Willing to participate in education programs
Pay and Benefits:

Living stipend, basic health insurance and more!
Uniforms, safety gear and tools are provided.
Locations:

Lake Tahoe & Auburn Residential Program - Participants will live and work from the CCC’s residential center in Lake Tahoe or Auburn. Some projects will require 10-day camping /work stints away from the center.
San Diego & San Bernardino Non-residential - Participants will live at home and commute to the CCC site in North County or San Bernardino. The crew will be transported to/from the work site in the Cleveland National Forest or San Bernardino/Angeles National Forest.
