Groundbreaking Ceremony for
Veterans Home of California – Fresno to Take Place
First California Veterans Home to be built in Fresno County!

EVENT: The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA), California Department of General Services (DGS), City of Fresno, and the Central California Veteran Home Support Foundation, Inc. (CCVHSF) invite the public to a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the future Veterans Home of California – Fresno.

DATE: Wednesday, May 19, 2010

TIME: 12:00 Noon

WHO: Representatives from CalVet, USDVA, DGS, City of Fresno, CCVHSF, elected officials, veterans, family and friends

BACKGROUND: CalVet currently operates five Veterans Homes of California located in Yountville (Napa County), Barstow (San Bernardino County), Chula Vista (San Diego County), Lancaster (Los Angeles County) and Ventura (Ventura County). CalVet is currently constructing a veterans home in West Los Angeles and has began working with contractors for building veterans homes in Fresno (Fresno County) and Redding (Shasta County).

The Veterans Home of California – Fresno will cost approximately $158 million to design and construct, will have 300 beds, and employ approximately 452 permanent employees.
