Redding Veterans Home to Open Oct 25th

Event: The California Department of Veterans Affairs will hold the Grand Opening Event and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Veterans Home in Redding on Friday October 25th, 2013. This event which has been highly anticipated by the veterans and community leaders in Northern California will feature select guest speakers, dignitaries, entertainment, and special presentations. These events will give the public a chance to view these state-of-the-art facilities and participate in the historic opening and dedication of the new Veterans Home of Redding.

Date: Friday, October 25th

Time: 10:00 a.m.

Place: Veterans Home of California – Redding

3400 Knighton Rd.

Redding, CA 96002

Who: The Grand Opening Ceremony will be highlighted with guest speakers including The Secretary Of Veterans Affairs Peter Gravett, Senator Jim Nielsen, Assemblyman Brian Dahle and Senator (Ret) Maurice Johannessen. There will be many Vintage style Military vehicles, helicopters, Bagpipe Band, ceremonial band, Members of the Patriot Guard and Missing in Action Project, Fire and emergency vehicles, a special National Anthem and a 2 plane formation flyover during the ceremony. All branches of the Military will be involved along with the Naval Sea Cadets, Redding Police Department and the California Highway Patrol. The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will also be in attendance. There will also be a Ribbon Cutting ceremony following the Dedication Ceremony and guided tours of the Home will be given

Saturday Event: A Community Open House will be held on the Saturday following the opening to allow the public an opportunity to tour the facilities and meet the staff. There will be a Tri-Tip BBQ put on by the Asphalt Cowboys, a live radio broadcast and “Silverbridge” a local band performing on the event stage.
