Veterans Resource Centers to Open in
Five Public Library Branches

Sacramento – The Californiaa Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), in partnership with the California State Library, announce the addition of five new Veterans Resource Centers. The Centers will be opening at Public Libraries in the cities of Beaumont, Calexico, City of Commerce, Rancho Cordova, and Novato.

"Veterans Resource Centers connect Veterans and their families to benefits and services they earned," said Keith Boylan, CalVet's Deputy Secretary for Veterans Services. "Public Libraries are located close to where our Veterans live and work, and they are a convenient place for them to learn about state and federal Benefits."

The public is invited to attend the grand opening events scheduled below:

Beaumont Library, 10:00 a.m. on January 12, 2016.

Camarena Memorial Library, 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2016.

Rosewood Library, 5:00 p.m. on January 21, 2016.

With the opening of five additional Veteran Resource Centers, Veterans will enjoy access to 33 convenient locations throughout California. The goal of the CalVet – State Library partnershiip is to increase the number of Veterans and family members aware of and obtaining the benefits based on military service earned.

The Veteran Resource Center program is funded by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services through the California State Library with direction and volunteer staff training provided by CalVet. The programs administration is provided by Pacific Library Partnership, an organization that works to consolidate library systems throughout the state.
