CalVet Withdraws GI Bill Approval for Marinello Schools of Beauty

Sacramento – Today the California State Approving Agency for Veteran Education (CSAAVE), a division of the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet), withdrew approval for 37 California educational institutions doing business as Marinello Schools of Beauty (Marinello) due to Marinello’s announcement today that it will close effective immediately.

"CalVet takes very seriously our duty to ensure our California Veterans receive the education and training they are paying for with their earned GI Bill benefits," said Keith Boylan, Deputy Secretary, Veterans Services at CalVet. "CalVet stands ready to assist veterans through this transition period as they make decisions regarding their future education."

Eligible Title 38 beneficiaries may only use GI Bill benefits at institutions approved by CSAAVE. A list of approved institutions is available on CalVet’s website at www.calvet.ca.gov .

All questions regarding eligibility and payment of GI Bill benefits must be directed to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) at 1-888-GIBILL1. GI Bill beneficiaries may also access the GI Bill Comparison Tool research approved programs, tuition/fees, housing allowance, graduation, and loan default rates through the GI Bill Website at www.gibill.va.gov .
