Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Medal of Honor Recipient Colonel Lewis Millett

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today issued the following statement regarding the death of Medal of Honor recipient Colonel Lewis Millett of Idyllwild:

"For over 30 years, Colonel Lewis Millett fought for our country and represented the highest ideals it was built upon, while inspiring others to service. He was a true American hero and Maria and I join all Californians in expressing our appreciation, respect and admiration for his service and bravery. Together, we send our deepest condolences to Colonel Millett's family and friends during this difficult time.”

“The California Department of Veterans Affairs and all veterans in our Golden State join the family of Colonel Lewis Millett in mourning his passing and offer our most sincere condolences,” said Roger Brautigan, Secretary of Veterans Affairs. “Our nation has lost one of its heroes but his legacy will live on as our active troops follow in his footsteps and serve our country with dignity, courage and pride.”
