Veterans All-Hands Meeting To Discuss The New GI Bill To Be Held At Monterey Peninsula College

EVENT: The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) is sponsoring an all-hands meeting for veterans, their families and friends to learn about benefits and services for veterans hoping to get a higher education degree by using the New GI Bill, in addition to other information regarding veterans benefits and services. Individuals who serve at least 90 days of aggregate service after September 10, 2001 are eligible for the New GI Bill. Veterans must have an honorable discharge or other qualifying discharge (e.g. hardship, condition interfering with duty, etc.) to be eligible.


DATE: Wednesday, February 17, 2010

TIME: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

WHO: Representatives from CalVet, elected officials, veterans, and students

BACKGROUND: This is the first of several Veterans All-Hands Meetings taking place throughout California this year. These meetings are designed to provide a forum for current information regarding benefits and services available to veterans. Important information will also be provided to veterans returning from the current conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq.
