The America's Wars Fact Sheet compiled by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) contains statistics for each of America's wars including the number of servicemembers who served, the number of battle deaths, the last surviving veteran, and the numbers on the benefit rolls. PTSD Awareness Month
June is Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. Raise PTSD Awareness. "Starting Strong" is a reality-TV inspired branded television series created by the U.S. Army. This series is the Army's first to deliver the Army Strong story to those audiences that typically skip or are not exposed to traditional advertising. Assistance for Veterans in Oklahoma
The American Legion (http://www.legion.org/oklahomafund) has committed $1 million to assist veterans and their families whose homes were devastated by the tornado in Moore, Okla. The Legion, in partnership with (http://www.soldierswish.org/) Soldier's Wish, is currently on-site in Moore talking to veterans to ensure they receive the available emergency assistance. To ask for assistance, (1) call The American Legion hotline at (800)-504-4098; (2) visit Legionnaires at the Home Depot in Moore in front of the Soldier's Wish/American Legion trailer. Veterans are encouraged to visit and seek assistance. The address is 650 S.W. 19th St.; and (3) visit American Legion Post 88 in Norman, Okla. House Panel Rejects Most TRICARE Hikes
According to a report by Tom Philpott, the House armed services subcommittee on military personnel unanimously rejected the Obama administration's call to cap the 2014 military pay raise at one percent versus and most of the administration's plans to increase TRICARE fees.

Bill Would Restore GI Bill for Older Vets
The Senate may soon have the chance to vote on whether or not to remove the time limit for GI Bill benefits. Currently veterans have 10 years to use their Montgomery GI Bill (or 15 years to use their Post-9/11 GI Bill). The so-called delimiting date is determined by the veterans last discharge date. The bill was introduced by Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Tuesday, May 28.

Small Business Support for Veterans
TechStars, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veteran entrepreneurs raise capital and start successful businesses, is hosting a Patriot Boot Camp for veterans and spouses who are interested in starting technology companies. The boot camp is a three-day program, held at Georgetown University from July 17-19, that will teach attendees the ins and outs of creating a technology startup. The camp is free to veterans and spouses. The online application can be found on the (http://www.techstars.com/patriotbootcamp/apply/) TechStars website. The deadline to apply is June 7.

American Legion Launches Facebook Page
The American Legion has launched a new (https://www.facebook.com/TheAmericanLeg ... ce?fref=ts) Facebook page to coincide with its new web page dedicated to honor and remembrance. VA, HUD to Provide Vouchers
Approximately 9,000 homeless Veterans living on the streets and in the nation's shelter system will soon find a permanent place to call home. The U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) will provide $60 million to local public housing agencies across the country to offer permanent supportive housing to homeless Veterans, many of whom are living with chronic disabling conditions. Grants for Homeless Veterans
The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the availability of up to $5 million to fund 16 or more Homeless Female Veterans and Veterans with Families grants. Approximately 1,900 veterans will receive job training and related services to help them succeed in civilian careers. Funds for the grants are being awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, and faith-based and community organizations.
