NEWS FROM THE SIERRA COLLEGE VETERANS CLUB
The Sierra College Veterans Club is sponsoring a wonderful forum and we would appreciate any help we can get to spread the word. Everyone is invited!
“The Road Home...From Combat to College and Beyond” is an important event being held at Sierra College! The college is located at 5000 Rocklin Rd. Rocklin, CA.
The forum, set for Friday, September 28, 2007, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, has a goal of enlightening our community about transition issues veterans face as they return home from war. The audience suitability covers a broad spectrum that includes educators, community business professionals, veterans service organization personnel, local politicians, veterans and their family members, and community residents who have an interest in how the college and its community can better care for those who have served their country.
Nationally known experts will lead the discussion. Vietnam veteran Floyd "Shad" Meshad, President and founder of the National Veterans Foundation and Iraq veteran Paul Rieckhoff, Executive Director and founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, will keynote the free forum. Laura Gomez, OIF/OEF Program Director at the Palo Alto Polytrauma Rehabilitation Center will discuss traumatic brain injury. College student-veterans and college staff will lead panels clarifying issues and solutions to provide quality service to our veterans.
Due to a grant funded by Sierra College Staff Development, the event is free to everyone.
Our Financial Aid Office is providing a free bar-b-q, and space will be limited, so please RSVP to Catherine Morris cmorris@sierracollege.edu by Friday, September 14th.
