American GI Forum of CA Supports saving W/LA Veteran Home

Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans:

We are proud to announce that Willie Galvan, State Commander of the American GI Forum of California (AGIF/CA), recently reiterated his Veteran Service Organization's unwavering support to "Save the National Veterans Home" in West Los Angeles.

On June 14, 2008, three months after our first Sunday Rally, Gil Flores who is a member of AGIF/CA as well as the Old Veterans Guard, submitted and got approved through his El Camino Real Chapter, the first official VSO Resolution supporting our Sunday Rallies protesting the public park and other misappropriation of Veterans land.

Gil's Resolution was signed and approved by AGIF/CA Officer Alfred Lugo, and it was officially adopted by the State Department and signed by Commander Galvan on October 6, 2008.

This includes supporting the Sunday Rallies of the Old Veterans Guard (originally We the Veterans) and the "Declaration of Enforcement," the no-nonsense Document that enforces upholding the Congressional Act of 1887 and the Deed of 1888.

Thus, AGIF/CA has always been a loyal supporter of this noble cause and Gil has been a loyal attendee of our Sunday Rallies, even though he lives in Orange County.

Thanks to all who support the Old Veterans Guard and our peaceful demonstrations that have been instrumental in leading toward two separate ACLU lawsuits, one of which was recently won against Donna Beiter, the West LA VA's executive director and her chief of police, Ronald Mathis, for viewpoint discrimination (censorship), and the current ACLU lawsuit against the largest VA in the nation and VA Secretary Eric K. Shinseki and West LA VA director Donna Beiter.

Vietnam Veterans of America, a prominent Veterans Service Organization in helping Veterans and their families, is a lead plaintiff.

Commander Galvan stated that AGIF/CA supports the ACLU lawsuits and he will continue working to make sure that our Veterans sacred property will be protected as it was deeded 123 years ago, "to be permanently maintained as a National Home for Disabled Soldiers.
