CDVA Deputy Secretary Puntillo Resigns...

Post by boardman »

It is with regret that I inform you that Ted Puntillo resigned from the California Department of Veterans Affairs as the Deputy Secretary for Veterans Services on July 12, 2011.

Ted resigned to return to his true passion of helping veterans file claims on a one on one basis by taking a position as the county veterans’ service officer in Solano County. Ted served as the Yolo County CVSO from 2003 until 2008.

Very rarely does one person have a profound effect on an organization. Ted Puntillo was that person. Much of the progress made to increase CDVA’s services to California’s almost 2 million veterans was due to Ted’s efforts.

Most noteworthy was Operation Welcome Home which reached out to the 30,000 new veterans who currently leave the service each year in California. Ted learned his skills as a CVSO in Yolo County and I had the pleasure to work with him during that period and on through his tenure at CDVA.

Whenever anyone around the Capitol had a question or an issue with veteran’s claims, I always sent them to Ted to help with their issues and claims. He has helped many people around the Capitol.

Often times Ted would come in on his own time to file claims for any veteran. He will truly be missed at CDVA.

CDVA’s loss is Solano County’s gain. Fortunately for all of us, Ted will continue to assist veterans wherever and wherever he can and I look forward to continuing to work with him in the future through the California Association of County Veterans Service Officers.

Ted will be replacing Bill Reardon who has served Solano County veterans for 27 years. Bill is another one of the good guys who has dedicated years of service to veterans. I have had the pleasure of working with Bill Reardon over the years and he will also be greatly missed. We wish Bill the best in all his future pursuits.
