House and Senate agree on raising nation's debt ceiling
NEWS UPDATE VIETNAM VETERANS OF AMERICA

The Senate today approved a plan to raise the nation's debt ceiling by a 74-26 vote. The House of Representatives approved the measure Monday by a 269-161 vote. Passage in the Senate required a supermajority of 60 votes.
The measure needs to be signed into law by the President before the end of Tuesday August 2, 2011.
