Philanthropist Kenneth Fisher to Receive Award at the Vietnam Veterans of America 15th National Convention

(Washington, D.C.) – Kenneth Fisher, the chairman of the Fisher House Foundation, will receive the Vietnam Veterans of America President’s Award for Philanthropy on Thursday, August 18, during VVA’s 15th National Convention in Reno, Nevada. There is at least one Fisher House a facility that provides free housing for families of hospitalized service members at every major military medical center in the nation. The Fisher House program serves more than 12,000 families annually, and since the program began in 1990, some three million days of lodging have been made available to family members.

“It is an honor to recognize the amazing work of the Fisher House Foundation,” VVA National President John Rowan said. “What Kenneth Fisher and the Foundation have done to help our nation’s service personnel and their families is beyond calculation. Every American owes him and the Foundation a debt of gratitude.”

The VVA Convention runs from August 17-20 at the Silver Legacy Hotel in Reno, Nevada. Some eight hundred delegates from VVA chapters across the country are expected to join hundreds of other Vietnam veterans and guests in Reno. The delegates will set the organization’s course for the next two years, hear from an array of speakers, attend information sessions, and take part in special events. That includes the Saturday, August 20, Awards Banquet, which honors Vietnam veterans and others in the arts.
