Secretary’s Progress Report 8/22/11

As your newly elected VVA National Secretary you will receive on a continual basis a progress report on VVA business being worked on by the VVA National Board of Directors (BOD). This is an additional effort on my part to keep the state councils, chapters and the membership updated as to what the BOD is working on, thus please consider this report as a tool to further enhance the communication level between the BOD and the membership.

· The newly elected VVA BOD held their first formal meeting on Saturday afternoon upon the conclusion of the convention’s general session.
· The new BOD members were greeted with the usual paperwork involved and provided some background information (family, work or VVA elected history) on themselves as an introduction.
· President Rowan has not recommended appointments for the VVA Committee Chairs at this time since he needed additional time.
· The VVA Leadership Handbooks are now available on the public side of the VVA web site and you will find them under VVA Publications on the site map.
· The VVA IT Department has looked into the availability problem with the Chapter Locator section under Membership Services and if you are still experiencing problems contact cengle@vva.org.
· The new elected BOD will be in on October 6, 2011 before the scheduled VVA National BOD meeting for training as to the requirements, polices and procedure as a VVA BOD member.
· There will be further steps taken by the BOD to address the loss of tax-exempt status rendered by the IRS and the CFO Joe Sternburg will developing information to help these VVA chapters.
· The VVA BOD meeting minutes for August 20, 2011 are almost ready and they will be released as soon as a copy of the BOD motions I gave the staff is forwarded to me.

While I await the “Orderly Transition Report” from the former VVA Secretary Barry Hagge, please feel free to contact me if there are matters or issues that need elevation on my priority list and “Thank You” for your vote of confidence in electing me as your VVA National Secretary.
