BACKGROUND:   Each year, 12,000 veterans – many returning from war -- enter the job market in California.  They possess technical and leadership skills, experience, work ethic and discipline, which make them valuable members of any organization; yet veterans between the ages of 18 and 24, for example, have an unemployment rate of more than 10 percent.  This Hire a Hero, Hire a Vet Job and Resource Fair is one in a series of 10, designed as part of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s initiative to open employment and education avenues for veterans.
