GOVERNOR ISSUES ARMED FORCES DAY PROCLAMATION

Armed Forces Day
 
It is an honor to send my warmest greetings to all those observing Armed Forces Day.
 
Since the birth of our nation, the United States has looked to the men and women of our armed forces to protect our way of life.  Thanks to their bravery and sacrifice, we enjoy the rich blessings of living in the greatest and freest nation on earth.
 
Although a single day’s celebration is not enough to express the profound gratitude that Americans have for those in uniform, it is nevertheless a special honor to set aside time to reflect on those who put their lives on the line to secure our liberty.  I join all Californians in giving my heartfelt gratitude to all the past and present members of our armed forces.
 
I urge the people of our state to pay tribute to those who protect our country and to pray for the safe return of those currently engaged in conflicts throughout the world.
