VETERANS HOME OF CALIFORNIA, YOUNTVILLE
125TH FOUNDERS DAY CELEBRATION

EVENT: The California Department of Veterans Affairs’ (CalVet) Veterans Home of California, Yountville will be celebrating 125 years of serving the Golden State’s veterans with its Founders Day Ceremony and Ice Cream Social. The following commemorative events are all open to the public.

DATE: Wednesday, April 1st
1:30 p.m. - Historical video of the veterans home showing in the Main Chapel (with introductory remarks by the film maker)
2:30 p.m. - Founders Day Ceremony and Ice Cream Social in Lincoln Theater Lobby (Senior Chorale and Veterans Home Band will perform)
3:00 p.m. - Hall of Fame Ceremony Installation

Thursday, April 2
10:30 a.m. - Video and refreshments in the Memory Care Center
1:30 p.m. - Video and refreshments in the Hospital Recreation Area
5:00 – 7:00 p.m. - Town of Yountville Chamber Mixer – Video at the Armistice Chapel

Saturday, April 4
10:00 a.m. – Noon - Classic Car Show on Veterans Home Grounds

BACKGROUND: Located in the heart of scenic Napa Valley, the Veterans Home of California, Yountville is a community of and for veterans. Approximately 1,100 veterans live at the home. Founded in 1884, this veterans home is the largest in the United States. It provides residential accommodations and a wealth of recreational, social, and therapeutic activities for independent living. The Veterans Home of California, Yountville offers Residential Care (assisted living) capacity and three levels of inpatient health care.
