Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of Armona Marine

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of Lance Cpl. Alfonso Ochoa Jr. of Armona, California:

“Lance Corporal Alfonso Ochoa was a brave young man whose commitment to serving his country will always be remembered. Maria and I are grateful for his service and sacrifice and the service of all our armed forces. We send our condolences to all of Alfonso’s loved ones who are mourning this terrible loss.”

Ochoa, 20, died October 10 while supporting combat operations in Farah province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, U.S. Marine Corps, Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe Bay.

In honor of Lance Cpl. Ochoa, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
