OAKLAND RAIDERS JOIN WITH CALVET
TO SUPPORT PROJECT GOLD STAR


SACRAMENTO – The Oakland Raiders has joined with the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) to help support the “Project Gold Star” effort to create a specialized license plate that will honor families who have lost someone through military service. A portion of the proceeds from the tickets sold for the 7th November game between the Oakland Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs will go to support Project Gold Star.

The California Department of Veterans Affairs was tasked with raising more than $300,000 through private donations to fund the creation of the specialized licenses plates that will be available for families who have lost children, spouse, mothers or fathers in combat.

“In the current conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan more than 600 Californians have lost their lives and these special plates will recognize their families for that sacrifice,” said Roger Brautigan, Secretary of the California Department of Veterans Affairs. “We are grateful to the Oakland Raiders for their support in this effort.”
